New ShoutCast Control panel is here….

Due to some issues with our old Shoutcast Control panel we have changed over to a new system that allows better control of your streams and on-demand content.

If you are a customer of ours with a Shoutcast server we will be contacting you over the next few weeks to migrate your server over to the new platform. If you have any further questions about the system please do get in contact with us.

Well after weeks of nagging from a few customers we have decided to install Fantastico for you all to have a play with, If your not sure what this program is its an addon feature to all cPanel accounts which gives you a range of pre installed scripts like forums and blogs etc that you can install on your website.

To you its totally FREE of charge, This program will be installed on all shared web servers by the end of next week. We will post an update once this is complete on all boxes.

ShoutCast Control Panel Update

We have been looking round for a new control panel that we can use on our servers to run our Shoutcast Platform, The Cast Control panel seems to be running fine with no problems but we are looking for a new panel that will allow us to do more.

Also some customers have been asking us if we support IceCast, Its not something we currently have but the new panel we have found supports this so it could be something we add to our product range.

The new panel is called Centova.

cPanel Update

On Friday 26th March at about 9pm onwards we will be updating cPanel on all shared servers from version 11.24 to the latest 11.25. For more information on the new features of cPanel 11.25 please visit http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpanelwhm/

Please note that during this update on all servers some services may become unavaliable for a short time.

UPDATE: All hosting servers have now been upgraded to version 11.25, enjoy.

RBL Spam Blocker

Over the past few days we have installed a new piece of software on all servers called RBL Blocker, This system is designed to filter out spam from reaching your inbox.

So far we have recieved good feedback from the software so please feel free to let us know if this has made any changes to your incomming mail.

What is 3d Secure?

3d secure explained

3D Secure is a technical standard created by Visa and MasterCard to further secure CNP (Cardholder Not Present) transactions over the Internet.

MasterCard brand their system as ‘MasterCard SecureCode’ and Visa call theirs ‘Verified by Visa’.

3D Secure payment security creates what is called a ‘trust chain’ throughout the transaction, shifting the liability for fraud from the merchant to the issuer under a range of conditions.

However, merchants should not consider 3D Secure as a panacea and should continue to use their existing anti fraud measures as well.

When an ecommerce transaction occurs on a 3D secure website and the cardholder is paying using a credit/debit card enrolled in 3D secure either the Mastercard or VISA pop up or inline security screens appear. The user is then asked to enter their passphrase (which can be a combination of letters or numbers) which is known only to them. Mastercard or VISA then return the user to the ecommerce store after authentication.

3D Secure facts

3D secure payment security is only applicable to eCommerce/Internet transactions.
MoTo transactions (Mail Order/Telephone Order) are not affected
Transactions that occur via a telephone or virtual terminal i.e. MoTo do not need 3D secure (you can’t ask the customer for their passphrase as it is private).
Cardholder Not Present (CNP) transations are when the cardholder is not physicaly there at the point of sale i.e. on the Internet or on the telephone
Conversely Cardholder Present (CP) transactions are when the cardholder is physically at the point of sale e.g. in a retail store

important things to know about 3D Secure

From 21st January 2010 it will be mandatory for all merchants who wish to accept Maestro cards (part of Mastercard) to use 3D secure. If merchants do not comply merchants risk heavy fines and the threat of loosing their ability to process credit cards.
